Volunteer Stories

Come hear from two of our members about their very interesting volunteer experiences

1.       Kevin Varner, Founding Board Member and Owner of Vista Futura Inc. – Kevin spent 2 years working with the Peace Corps in Uruguay helping the local government develop and implement a nationwide plastic recycling program.  He will detail his role in the program and how the experience motivated him to continue to pursue conservation and sustainability in his professional career;

2.       Jerry Higgins, Senior Estimator at Bernards Builders – Jerry has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity International for more than  10 years and spends his vacation every year building homes in Eastern Europe and Asia.   Hear about the wildly different locations from the very modern eastern Europe to hand making adobe bricks in remote portions of Kyrgyzstan.

Find out what motivated these individuals to donate their time to these great organizations and what benefits, expected and unexpected, they received as a result of their service.

Lunch is provided and sponsored by Bernards.
